Body Composition Testing

What is a Healthy Body Composition?
A healthy body composition means having the right amount of body fat, lean muscle and fluid balance. Body composition is linked to physical fitness, and while the affects may be subtle, they can make a big difference in your longevity and quality of life. Excess fat in relation to lean body mass can increase your risks to cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and more.

Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) is a method of assessing your “body composition”—the measurement of body fat in relation to lean body mass. It is an integral part of a health and nutrition assessment. Your cellular health is also measured with the equipment used in our clinic.

How Does BIA Work?

BIA is more sophisticated than your bathroom scales, but just as simple—and almost as quick. Pads are placed on your hand and foot as you lie comfortably clothed on an exam table. Mild frequencies are applied (painless) and in a few minutes, we have detailed measurements to help create an effective, personalised program for you.

People who may benefit from BIA include those who want to:

  • Lose weight while preserving their muscle mass
  • Increase muscle tone and fitness
  • Support their energy levels
  • Support healthy ageing
  • Support the nutrition and health of their body

What does BIA Cost?

Jodie includes BIA assessment in her consultations. Her consultation fees are listed here. Depending on how complex your case is, an extended consultation or a follow up visit may be needed to complete the BIA assessment which takes 15 – 20 mins.

Follow-up Tests

At a follow up BIA test, the changes in your muscle mass, body fat and fluid balance are all monitored. Your BIA results help guide us in creating a personalised dietary plan, including nutritional supplements when appropriate, and exercise to help you maintain optimal health and wellbeing.
